that’s funny because having mono was one of the best times of my life! 

those sweets moments when all i have is my bible in hand with passages that jump out and highlight attributes of our Living God.  these are the moments when i see myself for who i really am and see God for who He really is…so holy, so set apart, so sanctified.  so incredibly far.  how can i ever get to this Awesome God?

but yet, by mercies incomprehensible to me, i am reconciled to Him because of Christ.  and He is near once again.  so near.  He ginoskos me.

worship.
i just need to worship.
my life needs to worship this amazing God.

There is one thing in which I am in dead earnest and that is the Communist cause. It is my life, my business, my religion, my hobby, my sweetheart, my wife and mistress, my bread and meat. I work at it in the daytime and dream of it at night. Its hold on me grows, not lessens as time goes on. Therefore, I cannot carry on a friendship, a love affair, or even a conversation without relating it to this force which both drives and guides my life. I evaluate people, books, ideas, and actions according to how they affect the Communist cause and by their attitude toward it. I’ve already been in jail because of my ideas and if necessary, I’m ready to go before a firing squad.

1 corinthians 7:35 says…
“this i say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.“

do i have this type of undistracted devotion to the Lord?

in all my practical-ness, i think celebrating one’s birthday is quite…dumb.  i mean, it’s like you’re saying, “good job!  you were born this many years ago and you’ve survived to make it to this age!”  really, they did nothing at all, but eat, breathe, and sleep to make it to their current age.  i think it says much more about God’s grace in sustaining one’s life than anything that they did.  BUT i would say that birthdays are good because it forces me to stop and actually take the time to appreciate that person and all that mean to me.  i try to regularly appreciate the people in my life, but it’s nice to have a day set aside once a year to further consider how God has blessed me with the specific people He has sovereignly placed in my life for however long or short i’ve known them.

there have been many birthdays lately of people near and dear to my heart (cathy lee, jason park, christine, derekson, jenn lee, ray kim, p.gary, wonger, aaron lee – to whom i wish a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY!), but none more near and dear to my heart than my very own jeh jeh!!

happy birthday TODAY to a lady that i’ve known for all of my life and has walked with me through the ups and downs of the path that God has set before me.  i don’t know who i would be or what life would be like without her.  thank God for sisters…it is a double blessing to not just have a biological sister, but one who is also my sister in Christ.

of heejun han!!  he’s such a hilarious contestant with a great voice!  i’ve always watched american idol, but never voted before…  i just might vote for him this year!    yay, top 24!!
